Little Bumble is proud to support and employ Gippsland locals like Therese. A busy mum of two, she is loving the valuable work she does at Little Bumble. We recently sat down with Therese to learn more about her.
How long have you been working at Little Bumble and what is your background?
I joined the Little Bumble team in October 2020 and have previously been a Food teacher.
I’m passionate about all things food related, including growing food, cooking food, using food to improve health and well-being and of course trying new foods (I particularly love Japanese foods).
This love of food has not only led me to Little Bumble, but also inspired me back in 2014 to start my own business, Foodie, which is an online program used by school Food Technology departments (some of whom are using Little Bumble wraps and baking mats in their schools already).
Teachers can save time and the errors associated with ordering large amounts of food, and consequently reduce their food wastage - a passion shared by the Little Bumble team.
What do you love most about living and working in Gippsland, Victoria?
I love the open spaces and beautiful countryside that Gippsland offers.
But my family also loves that the city is close enough to visit when we need our Melbourne fix.
Tell us something about you that your fellow worker-bees wouldn’t know?
I used to sing in a band called Big Elmo at local pubs and venues around Gippsland.
If you could change one thing in the world right now, what would it be?
Apart from COVID I’d love to see a cure / prevention for all forms of cancer, so people no longer have to suffer, and no one loses their loved ones.
What inspires you to come to work every day?
She’s taught me so much about business and opened a whole new world of things I hadn’t thought possible (or even existed!).
Do you believe, as a nation, we can win the war on food and plastic waste?
I’d like to think we can, but unfortunately I think it’s going to take a long time.
Many Little Bumble products are handmade at Hive Quarters – what product do you love creating and why?
I love creating custom wraps!
It’s so much fun working on the whole project and so satisfying to see them all lined up neatly in a box ready for delivery.
What is your favourite Little Bumble product you use at home, and do you have any tips or hacks for its use?
Definitely Little Bumble Baking Mats!
Nothing sticks and they’re so easy to cut to size so I can line tins quickly and easily.
I also use them on the Weber when I’m cooking marinated chicken sticks – makes clean up a breeze.
